Meredith Gardens

Meredith Gardens is an inner-city oasis! In addition to fostering community spirit and cooperation, the garden provides a learning environment. It helps educate the public about organically grown food and a natural ecosystem. Home-schoolers, public, and private schools have all visited the garden.

If you would like to garden at Meredith Gardens, please review the Gardeners' Handbook and complete an Application. Garden plots are assigned to gardeners who have qualified by volunteering initially at least 8 hours in the park.  After completing these hours, gardeners are expected to continue volunteering on work days or in leadership positions as needed.

Gardeners on a waitlist for a garden meet at monthly garden gatherings, and at other times by invitation (email or text). Until you are assigned a garden of your own, you may plant and harvest in the waitlist plot. Since we can’t predict when a garden will become available, please be prepared for a lengthy wait.

All Gardeners:  Please also check out this video of Marion’s and George’s tomato class on 3/2/24. (link) And study the information below regarding where to place your plant waste.

NON-COMPOSTABLE PLANT WASTE

Place non-compostable plant waste in the narrow red bins.  One is in the center of the garden next to the hose; one is near the large blue open compost bin north of the fenced compost area.
